From the estate of the artist Frits Klein (1898-1990) I recently acquired a collection of watercolors, pastels, drawings, lithographs and oil paintings.

This collection consists of more than a hundred works and gives a wonderful overview of the development of Frits Klein as an artist.

It covers works from the various periods in Kleins oeuvre. With circus performances and flower shops that he made in Paris, garden scenes from, Nice and - de Pauwhof - in Wassenaar and beach views from Cagnes-sur-Mer and Ibiza, among others.

Before I will presenting selections from this collection at my exhibitions and at the art fairs
and to celebrate this special acquisition,

I would like to invite you on Pentacost Monday (Monday 29 May) between 11am and 5pm to visit the Kunsthandel at the Vrijheidslaan 32 house.

So that you have the opportunity go through the folders with pastels, watercolors. lithographs and drawings, so you can experience Frits Kleins creations- from his Garden of Eden - for yourself.

Opening exhibition

September / October 2012

Opening exhibition

28 September / 14 October 2012
Vrijheidslaan 32-hs, Amsterdam
Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 28,29,30 September, 5,6,7 & 12,13,14 October 2012 from 12:00 - 19:00.

In honour of our new location we would like to invite you to visit our sales exhibition. Here we show works by the Amsterdam Impressionists and the Classical Moderns, works mostly coming from private collections.

Highlight of the exhibition is "Card Players", which Jan Sluijters (1881-1957) painted in about 1907/1908. The work can be seen as his first interior scene, a theme that hereafter played an important role in his oeuvre.
Another masterpiece that we show is a colourful work on paper by Willy Sluiter (1873 - 1949), "Bal Pare, Munich, 1910”. Bal Paré was seen as one of the highlights around the carnival, with an 'black and white” dress code. Despite the fact that Sluiter wasn’t a fan of the capitalist splendour, the colourful spectacle of Bal Paré allowed him to produce the absolute pinnacle in his oeuvre.
Next to these two works we show works on paper and paintings by Leo Gestel, Jacobus van Looy, Marius Bauer, Isaac Israels, Armand Bouten & Frits Klein.

We hope to see you at our open house days. If you prefer a different date or time to visit the collection, please contact us to make an appointment.

Paris - the new source of inspiration

Saturday May 7 until Saturday June 18, 2005
Location: Eerste Bloemdwarsstraat 19
Open: Thursday till Saturday from 11:00 - 18:00 and by appointment.

At the dawn of the twentieth century, Paris was the centre for the Modernists. From all corners of the world, artists would visit the French capital in search of inspiration. Not only the city itself, but the artists resident in Paris would inspire each other, resulting in an exciting new style of works. From the Netherlands, artists such as Kees van Dongen, Jan Sluijters, Leo Gestel, Piet van der Hem en Herman Gouwe visited Paris on a regular basis. Influenced and inspired by their fellow artists, the colour scheme of these Dutch artists became more lively and vivid. This marked the dawn of Dutch Modernism. These pioneers form the basis of the exhibition ‘Paris, the new source of inspiration'.

This exhibition also features works by French contemporaries such as Raoul du Gardier, Marie Laurencin, Odilon Redon, Théophile Alexandre Steinlen and Felix Elie Tobeen.
