Martin Monnickendam

(1874-1943)

was a Dutch painter and draftsman. He came from a Jewish family. He trained from 1891 to 1893 at the State Academy of Art and was a pupil of the drawing school Felix Meritis, both in Amsterdam. He practiced the genres: painting, watercolor, etching, drawing and lithography. When subjects he often chose the city of Amsterdam or Jewish themes.
