Gerard Johan Staller

“I have
always painted everyday life around me, even when it had disappeared” says  Gerard Johan Staller about himself. He is
well known for his pre-war Jewish folkloristic market scenes of  Amsterdam.

He went to study with Professor August Allebé in the Royal Art Academy and was
awarded in 1913 with the Willink Collenprize.
